How to Play
The Rules:
No. 1 The first player is decided by a game of rock paper scissors. The first player chooses a race – preferably one being run within about 10-15 minutes. (Pens MUST be down at the race start! If you miss a bet – BAD LUCK! And any disputes = rock paper scissors!) Anyone is allowed to check the maths on the card as it is easy to make a mistake.
No. 2 The races are picked on a TV, newspaper, radio, internet; one horse, one dog, one trotter, one competitor per selection, win or place only – no multis! And you can’t skip a race and double up on the next one but it is only allowed in the event of a scratching.
All players make their individual horse, dog or trot selection on the game card. Each player has ten credits maximum to place on each race. The credit can be played all on a win, all on a place, or split if desired. Keep it simple – five or ten on each makes it easy to calculate the win based on the odds and complete the rest of the card.
Player two then selects the next race venue and race number and the same procedure is followed for each of the first FOUR races.
The fifth race is slightly different as it is a SECRET selection. By the end of Race 4, everyone is aware of the other players figures in the last column. You might be on Thoroughbred 60, your friend might be on Thoroughbred 30 and another is on Thoroughbred 10. As soon as you put your selection on, turn over the card so the other players can’t see. The secret selection allows you to make a selection that might take you out in front to the finish line after race five. And whoever has the most Thoroughbred credits WINS the kitty.
